THE POWER TO HEAL
Lesson # 9: Reclaiming lasting, optimal health of our brain and body
through what we eat, drink and think.
OUR BODIES ARE DESIGNED TO HEAL
From the minute you were born, your miraculous and incredibly resilient body has worked day and night to combat sickness, regenerate cells and mend wounds - revealing the power of its ability to self-repair. It has proven time after time that its main job is to work toward good health, not against it.
We are alive and in good health, true. However, a lot of us have gotten used to the aches, pains, discomfort and stress in our bodies. The absence of these things is only where our health potential begins.
The key to a healed, healthy body is an awareness of what's going of inside. With the right daily action, our bodies are able to prevent and cure both emotional and physical dis--ease.
We can't always control the environmental challenges that effect our bodies, but we do have control of each and everything we eat, drink and think that contributes to our daily well-being.
WHEN WE LIMIT WHAT'S WORKING AGAINST OUR BODIES,
IT HAS THE ABILITY TO PERFORM MIRACLES
Great Day Academics has condensed years worth of current scientific and medical research from the leaders in their field, as well as, results from experienced based studies so we could sort through conflicting information from the food industry. We want you to ask more from your doctors, reclaim authority over your body, have the health you deserve and be empowered by new life lessons in nutrition.
HEALTH IS NOT JUST THE ABSENCE OF ILLNESS-
IT IS A STATE OF
EMOTIONAL FREEDOM AND A VIBRANT PHYSICAL BODY
No two of our bodies are the same, so no two ways of health will be the same either, yet much like the universal need for sleep, all recommendations for lasting health, have one thing in common- reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a triple threat - causing mental, emotional and physical disease.
The main ways to reduce inflammation:
WATER, GREEN VEGETABLES, HEALTHY FATS and LESS SUGAR
There is no need for shame and guilt around our eating habits. This can contribute to poor emotional health. Enjoy the pleasurable foods you love, but add in a few more dark leafy greens during the day. One minor change can make a lasting impact.
LET FOOD BE YOUR MEDICINE
DIS- EASE IS WHEN YOUR BODY IS SIMPLY NOT AT EASE
The Journal of American Medical Association, the British Medical Journal , studies from Harvard and numerous other medical experts now confirm that sugar is the leading cause of inflammation in our bodies. The sugar in our everyday consumption have led to an alarming 125 million Americans who suffer from daily chronic illness. Building inflammation from sugar contributes to both major and minor issues in our bodies including neck and back pain, headaches, constipation, unhealthy weight gain, eczema, brain diseases, poor cholesterol, diabetes, cancer, ADHD , heart disease and more.

To Our Kids!
Early exposure to a vast variety of food and vegetables can empower kids to make each trip to the grocery store an opportunity to pick food as their daily medicine.
We teach body intelligence so they make the connection between what they are feeling inside as it relates to the food on their plate.
Real foods heal. Teaching children how to read food labels encourages them to ask questions about the ingredients and vitamins in their food.
ADHD, mood swings and other behavioral concerns in our children are linked to malnourished bodies. With processed foods and chemical additives in our food supply, the American diet has given our youngsters a title of being "overfed, yet undernourished".
In the last 30 years, doctors have seen the number of pre-diabetic, child patients jump from zero to now 1 in every 4 children.
KIDS WHO EAT CLEAN MEALS
LET THEIR BODIES HEAL
Modern western medicine measures pathology- the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This method of conventional medicine is ideal for acute diseases, trauma, infection, and emergencies. The study of pathology has developed incredible ways to prolong life and reduce symptoms of disease, but in the category of prevention, the medical field is far behind.
It is estimated to take the U.S. up to 20 or more years for physicians to receive training in the most current ways to prevent and cure disease when it comes to preventative nutrition.
Science now proves that daily maintenance in the form of food can not only prevent disease, but cure major illnesses. Dr. Christiane Northrup, surgeon, OBGYN and best selling author states that, "disease is an imbalance in the system that is usually the result of years of neglecting to engage in the causes of health.
YOUR DAILY CONSUMPTION HAS A DIRECT IMPACT ON HOW YOU
LOOK, FEEL AND FUNCTION
Functional medicine is the leading contender when it comes to prevention and cures for mental and physical disease.
"People with chronic conditions (allergic, digestive, hormonal, metabolic and neurological problems) – which most Americans suffer from, are finding solutions in the field of Functional Medicine" , says William Cole D.C. "Functional Medicine views us all as being different; genetically and biochemically unique."
This personalized health care treats the individual, instead of the disease and supports the normal healing mechanisms of the body.
I was a 123 pound soccer player who had just taken a full year off of sugar, when news of borderline diabetes, high blood pressure and a chronic back condition showed up in my test results. With shock and disbelief, this led to nonstop, in depth, research of how doctors weren't able to catch up with the most current information about food, sugar and the role it plays in our bodies. The result - chronic inflammation. Although I had sworn off of sugar, I was still the queen of carbs and never thought anything of it until I woke up to the reality of what all those hidden sugars were capable of. With more awareness, I started choosing real foods that heal and now I feel better with every meal.
This too, is my wish for you!
